The need for innovative financing models for antimicrobial development

The Quadripartite Joint Secretariat on AMR recently highlighted the urgent need for innovative financing models to support antimicrobial development. The article recaps a webinar hosted by the Milken Institute through the AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform (AMR MSPP), which brought together experts from finance, philanthropy, global health, and industry to examine the challenges and opportunities of financing antimicrobial innovation.  

AMR Action Fund CEO Henry Skinner emphasized that regulatory approval alone does not guarantee commercial success. Without sustainable revenue, companies may struggle to launch new products, fulfill post-approval requirements, expand patient access, or continue investing in innovation. His remarks underscored the need for financing and policy mechanisms that support antimicrobials throughout their lifecycle.
